About Us


We are not affiliated with the Rays franchise, any major corporations or elected officials. We are a citizen's coalition made up of lifelong St Petersburg residents, downtown visionaries, teachers, baseball fans, business owners, parents and neighbors. We have one common thread - we want the best for our community.

We see an opportunity in the proposal to develop Downtown West and replace Tropicana with an open-air waterfront stadium that will change the face of St Petersburg for many generations to come.

We see the vast possibilities in nationally televised games showcasing our downtown waterfront. We see the revenue potential in attracting shoppers to a first class retail complex instead of having to cross the bridge ourselves to go to an upscale mall.

We see our children enjoying the new green spaces that will replace a vast concrete parking lot. We see new neighbors moving to the area to take new jobs created by the project. We see the need for affordable housing that is proposed for the Tropicana site.

We see enjoying America's favorite past time in a state of the art open-air stadium on a site that has been home to baseball since 1914.

What's at Stake

The Rays have made it clear if the community doesn't show support for this proposal, it won't happen. We are talking about more than one billion dollars in development to our downtown without raising our taxes.

We believe this is too important a project to be silent. Fans for Waterfront Stadium invites you to get informed and stay open minded. We plan on being a constructive part of this community dialogue and finding solutions to the challenges of this massive undertaking because...WE CAN SEE IT!
